Plush Puzzle Toys
Springwise.com | September 2009
If pets now have their own airline and their own social network, it seems only fitting that the canines among them should have more sophisticated entertainment than the simple bones their forebears chewed on. Enter Kyjen, a California company that offers a range of toys designed to build the canine brain.
Kyjen’s Puzzle Plush Dog Toys aim to challenge and entertain their canine users much the way developmental toys do for children. The IQube, for instance, features a plush cube with balls nestled inside to test dogs’ intelligence and puzzle-solving skills as they try to get the balls out. The Hide-A-Squirrel toy, meanwhile, includes three toy squirrels hiding in a plush log, challenging dogs to find and remove them. Then there’s the IntelliBone, featuring a plush bone toy surrounded by removable plush rings. Prices on the Puzzle Plush line range from USD 11.49 to USD 21.99. Kyjen makes a variety of other dog toys as well, including an Eco Hemp line and a variety of Bottle Buddies designed to hold recycled water bottles for extra crinkle noise and chewing satisfaction. The company’s products are available globally in retail pet specialty stores, mail order catalogues and online, including from Amazon.
There are few things we at Springwise love more than to see products upgraded, because—as regular readers know—everything can be! But that’s never more true than in a burgeoning industry such as pet products, which is expected to bring in more than USD 45 billion this year in the US alone, according to the American Pet Products Association. One to partner with or emulate for the crafty canines in your part of the world….?

Bellasavvy.net | Invincibles and Squawkies Review
Bella Savvy.net | July 25, 2011
…I seriously think ‘Skye‘ lived a different life as a musician because when she’s playing with the Gecko Invincible toy, she gets a rhythm down by pawing at the toy (a digging kind of motion) and she don’t stop. I laugh so hard my eyes water just watching her go at it. The large Gecko she received contains 4 squeakers that are randomly placed inside the toy, plus a rattle in it’s tail. With this one, no matter where she steps or bites, she’s sure to hit something that makes noise. She LOVES it!…

“…I now have to hide the game or I will find the yellow cups all over the place! He absolutely loves it. I am going to recommend to all my clients. Thanks so much for a great stimulating toy.”
The Mad White Woman | Firehose Squeak N Fetch Review
The Mad White Woman | May 24, 2011
…[Mollyanna] absolutely LOVES it. She wouldn’t stand still for two seconds with it in her mouth for me to snap a photo of her carrying it. She would much rather lay in the warm sunshine with the grass tickling her belly and chew her little heart out!…After all is said and done, I would rate this toy an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 in our doggy playthings category…
Autumn Blues Reviews | Real Animal Squeaker Mat Review
Autumn Blues Reviews | May 20, 2011
…[Angie] loves to squeak the tail which makes a honking sound. She sleeps with Ricky and is at the door when you come home ready to show everyone Ricky and her are good friends. As for the inside of Ricky he has stayed intact and she has never even tried to wreck it…
West’s Tale | Firehose Toy Review
West’s Tale | April 30, 2011
…It makes a great fetch toy too. It throws very nicely, and lands with a “splat” which is perfect for agility training!…
After about half an hour of extreme play and tugging, the toy is still almost-new, though a bit muddy!…The boys are thoroughly enjoying this toy. Because of the handle, I wouldn’t leave it alone with them (they both would like to chew the handle off), but there isn’t much they can tug hard on without damaging! Definitely a win!…
