“What’s a Bottle Buddy?” A regular visitor to Kyjen.com might know the answer, but the casual shopper in Fort Collins, Colorado might not.  And that’s just what Arfy’s Mercantile for Dogs and Cats is counting on.  Hoping to pique the interest of shoppers walking by with that simple question, they placed it in on sign board out front (see larger photo here).  Nice job Arfy’s!

Prepare to be shocked (and possibly appalled):  in America, 2 million plastic beverage bottles are thrown out every 5 minutes. Fortunately increased ecological awareness in recent years has encouraged people to get involved with recycling, which cuts down on the environmental toll of both producing new plastic bottles from scratch and storing old, discarded bottles in overflowing landfills.

But it gets you to thinking: all that trouble to produce a new plastic bottle, and all that trouble to recycle it, and you only actually use the bottle for the amount of time it takes to consume whatever refreshing beverage it contains – and then you toss it. Why not get a little more use out of that bottle before sending it on its way?

Well, now you can extend the life of that plastic bottle before sending it to Recycling Heaven with new Bottle Buddies from Kyjen. Simply remove the bottle cap and rinse out the inside of the bottle, then insert the bottle into 1 of 4 cute & cuddly Bottle Buddies characters (being sure to dry the inside of the bottle first to prevent mildew). And there you have it: your dog’s new favorite toy! Dogs love the feel of the soft plush material on the outside, and the crinkly sound of the plastic bottle on the inside gives it an extra kick. When the bottle loses its crinkle, simply replace it with another bottle.
